To Be Loved is To Be Seen (Eflin Üstkat)

To be loved is to be seen.

We search for love not only because we want affection but also we want to be understood. We have a feeling called belonging and this feeling makes us prone to love. Just as all ships need harbors to take shelter in, people need other people to feel belonged. Therefore, the feeling of belonging is not a desire, it is a need. So we search for love, for understanding. And when we are seen, we fall in love because not all people see each other’s hidden sides but certain people who are for each other can; this is what we call love. Belonging is not a feeling of obedience but a feeling of embracing, seeing someone and saying “ We are for each other, we are meant to be together.” So it should not be limiting but liberating, this is what love needs to be: Free and felt open-heartedly.

In this case, it is not important who we love because love is not something you can control or shape, you just feel and embrace without questioning. For example, sometimes we learn invaluable things from people who are quite different from us and sometimes we find our undiscovered sides in people who quite like us; but in both situation we evolve and thrive by means of understanding. And a real and pure love makes this, teaches us different perspectives and prepare us for the coming chapters of our life’s, namely our stories.

In a nutshell, to be loved is to be seen and understanding which love carries within is what make us really human beings.
